Is mithril a real metal? Like, for example, titanium? Or an alloy? Because Ti seems to match the descriptions...

Well it's not a real metal but one made up by Tolkien, I mean being an author (sorry to all you Americans who spell it differently) you have to make up something thats indistructable.

There is no metal called mithril, but there are some which have some of its qualties. I guess it's a bit like kryptonite.

Yeah well...
If you mixed the right metals together you might be able to get a metal something like Mithril

you have to make up something thats indistructable. I don't think that the mitril is so Indestructable, that you say.The author meant that it's hard like dragon skin, but a dragon isn't immortal, right?

Indeed, a dragon isn't immortal, but it's underside coat of scales were said to be harder than diamond, which would mean Mithril would be unimaginable hard.

Well diamond is just a lump of carbon which often comes from compressed trees, so if you think about wood and how hard that is (hard wood I'm talking about) and times that by about 1000 then you'll have a diamond hardness. Even more then that is mithril.

Hm...I thought mithril was a real metal. Not as strong as what its being portrayed in the book but like Tolkien used it. Guess not though

Google it and you will probably only find stuff about mithril in LotR.
