There is a church in Pasadena, California, that got into trouble with the IRS. The IRS is saying that the church crossed the line when their sermons began to preach the support of liberal causes, and the IRS is looking into it very closely. The pastor of the church is fighting mad, and says that this is too important merely to sit down with the IRS behind closed doors, but warrants that the whole business should be disclosed in open court, and they are looking to take it to court right now. On the other hand, many evangelical churches are doing the same thing for the right wing side of things, and in greater numbers! Laws are being broken, and it looks like a federal investigation of the whole thing may be taking place sometime in the fairly near future. The Constitution calls for a strict separation of church and state, that's the law, but here's the deal: any church can legally support the liberal or conservative side (or any side) AS LONG AS they don't come out in favor of specific people — like John Kerry or John McCain for instance. Thoughts? Barley PS: You can find out more about it by clicking HERE.
