When the dog barks, more join in. So far, in my opinion, George Dubya Bush has barked and others have joined in, simply for fear of annoying the US. When one country has this much power, who wants to disagree, even if they are wrong. Comedians are always pointing out where governments go wrong. Why doesn't anybody in power listen to them?

You couldn't be an American. You could never pull of that accent. Sure GWB will be gone soon, but there will be another along soon enough. Someone decouncing the "wrongs" done to the U.S. and how they can fix everything and lower taxes too. There are lots of GWBs in the world.

Good point I can't do a American accent. The only one I can do is Scottish.

Who's to say the next President won't be worse? Or better, but apart from being a tool and invading Iraq (and saying some stupid things), what has George Bush done that is so bad?

Hey why are we worrying about it, we're Aussies.
Oh actually we should worry. Autralian Government follows American Government, it's a known fact.

Erinion - Well the whole Iraq thing is my main grievance with GWB. I'm not entirely convinced that there ever was evidence of WMDs, I reckon it's more likely that Bush wanted the oil. But the war on terror (Iraq, Afghanistan) spiked the price of petrol here in Oz just as I got a car so... Maj - Well it's mostly a protection thing for us aussies, I don't really like it but Oz really will need USA if someone decides to pick a fight with us. We simply don't have the numbers or tech in our armed forces to compete, alone, on a global level.

Britain would help...oh, right. I see your point. Hmm, I agree with you on the Iraq thing, but I'm thinking ahead. In a few years, I'm going to get a car, and it will be a Yaris or something of the sort: a car that doesn't run on petrol. I've still got about two years to wait anyway. Who knows what might happen.

We actually have all our army up north so it's not really around Sydney. Could be because all we have below us is Antarctica and New Zealand.

Maj there isn't enough Ethanol in the world to convert to. It's fairly clean but it's not sustainable. And the size of the U.S military is about the same as the Aussie population. We have a very small military compared to most other nations. New tyres = Very good, the car doesn't wonder all over the road now.

Just recently, the government of Florida has outlwaed Interpritive history in public schools. From now on, only "facts" will be taught. Is it just me, or is there a fundamental flaw in this reasoning? Is not all history interpretation? Many of our constructed dates from early history are made by intelligent conjecture? So what makes fact? What the government says is fact. This is, perhaps, one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a while, and also points towards a somewhat scary trend. Fortunately, living in Canada, this doesn't affect me, but it sets such a dangerous precedent that i can't help but have strong feelings about it. The government of Florida can now control the interpretation of history, in that only one interpretation is correct--and this is what will be taught. Looks like they've found a wonderful way to take control of the past and thus pollute the future. I'd like to know more about it. And there's the old saying, History is written by the victors. There are facts which are commonly accepted as such (most of which reside in science and are open to verification by anyone), and then there are "facts" which are not facts at all, but assertions, such as come from religion or political ideology, or, as you say, "history." Can you give URLs to sources? Barley

Brazil has already cut itself loose from oil dependency, and almost all their vehicles are running on biofuel made from sugar cane husks! Fuel components can be grown in abundance. We could do it in the US, if the oil companies didn't throw up roadblocks in every direction — but that's slowly changing. Barley
