If you were Aragorn, and Gandalf is still alive and leadign the Fellowship, would you have gone to Gondor, or with the company? You see, he knew a way through the Marshes, and that might have changed Gandalf's thoughts and ideas as to which way he was going to travel.
So, there are a few things to dicuss. Which way would they ave gone, and if Aragorn would have followed. Then say if you would have or not.

Well at the start it is Aragorn's plan to go to Minas Tirith. But if Gandalf was still with the Fellowship he still would have gone with the Fellowship because to leave them would be like betraying them to their death. Seeing as he was the best person they had.

As Aragorn, I would have stayed with the fellowship. While the promise of a kingdom is mighty tempting, the destruction of Sauron would have been far more important...and while the people of Gondor might resent him for abandoning them in war and leaving them with a crazed steward--Denethor--they would have hailed him as a hero after the ring was destroyed.
Aragorn would never abandon his friends, and would have stayed with them until the end. It was only with the curt realization at Amon-Hen that Aragorn changed his mind.
So, I would have stayed with him (as Aragorn), and I believe Aragorn would have stayed with him as well.
Boromir, on the other hand...well we all know what Boromir would have done!

Boromir, if he had not tryed to take the ring, would have gone to Minas Tirith to help in the war. But first he would have tryed to get Aragorn to come and Aragorn would have been tempted.

I follow Taran's reasoning if I were Aragorn; to go to Mt. Doom, for the destruction of Sauron was the ultimate goal. But if I had been Gandalf, I would have problably entered Mordor through the east, for there were no mountains to cross, along with the fact it was the least guarded part of Mordor. Entering Mordor through Cirith Ungol would have been folly with 9 companions, breaking Bara^Dur is like insane taken to the 14th power, and all other passes, if there are any others, are guarded like Hell.

I partially agree with TheBlackWizard about the insanity of sending 9 men (alright, 2 men, 1 istari, 4 hobbits, an elf, and a dwarf) into Samath Naur, the heart of the Enemy's land, and I would propose, that Aragorn (Boromir is counted off at this point) goes to Gondor and helps them in the war, turning the Eye to Gondor, where the new king is coming, etc., giving time to the rest of the fellowship to finish the job in Mordor. There are problems, and acceptance is one of them, however the plan sounds good enough.

Thats actually not too bad siz. It would be quite a good idea to go and draw off Souron's eye.

But how; start calling Sauron names at the Black Gate, and hoping he'll get ticked off and start to stare you to hell?

Are you sure about that Well, as Aragorn, he had one choice to make at Amon Hen (before the events happened). The only problem was helping prevent the destruction of men, or helping Frodo destroy the ring. Aragorn had gone through the Dead Marshes, so he could navigate them again. However, Rohan would not have lasted I think if he had gone with Frodo. I, as Aragorn would have sent Legolas and Gimli with Frodo and Sam, and then gone with the others to help Men. Luckily events happened they way they did, cos then Rohan gets slaughtered, and then Gondor gets slaughtered.

Still, if Aragorn had went with the Fellowship, at the cost of having to rebuild Middle-Earth good will have prevailed. But... Saruman... He'd be a problem.

Ah yes. If all that had befallen at the Falls had not happened then Saroman would have been the evil to fight.
