Fair-Haven returned a little later in the day very tired. She sat at the nearest table to the door.
" Nalla, that water looks wonderful could i have some of my own please?" She yawned deeply and loosened her top vest button for a little more air. "This place has rather fine scenery if you go to the right places, other parts are quite flat sadly enough."

Interrupted from her thoughts, the girl stood a little jumpily at hearing the request. Quickly fetching another drink, she returned as quietly as she had left and handed the cup to the woman.
Nalla hadn't expected her to say anything much but something about her words caught her strangely. Her head tipped to one side, narrow eyebrows knitting. "Have you not heard the stories?... How... How far did you go? Into the hills?..." Not even thinking about it, she had let a note of worry into her quiet voice; but even if she had been silent, the questions and fear behind those large young eyes would have been enough for anyone with even a little skill to read. "You didn't see anything, did you?"

Fair Haven took a long drink of water but looked at Nalla over the top of her glass in thought. She set her glass down, " Well, yes I went into the hills... There were a few caves and I passed and some runes." She studied Nalla's face. " Why is it you ask, if you don't mind my curiosity? I do find Stories, as you say, very interesting." She looekd around the room.
Fair-Haven was good in character and heart but her adventarous side often got the better of her.

The girl bit her lower lip, her eyes darting to and from the direction of the bar behind which Gavin stood working. She clearly was having second thoughts about what she had just asked, but she knew she couldn't just take it back.
"They... um... Some think that it still lives up there... Very few have ever even thought about going too far up and none would dare go into the caves at all. I only-" The hushed words came to a tangled stop, Nalla's eyes downcast and far away for a half moment.
"They say the caves and flats were the home of a beast. That it would take anything that it wished from anyone that crossed its path."
Shaking herself visibly after a long silence, she blinked and looked out a window to keep her eyes from the woman's. "They're just stories though. Something to keep the little ones inside after dark."

Sthingy fork
" Of course, " She smiled as to let the girl know all was well. All the while her head rolled with curiosity and questions. "Well, thank you for the water dear Nalla but I think I will retire to my room. I enjoyed our talk." She uncrossed her legs and stood, bowed slightly then headed for her room.
When Fair-Haven had reached her room she closed the door quickly behind herself. Her cloak rustled with the quickness of her movement. Back and forth she walked in thought. Myth or fact....Truth or lie.... "Well, I suppoe we'll just have to find out." She pulled a small map out of her cloak, earlie on her walk she had marked where all the caves and runes were she had spotted.

Thoughts, ideas and shreds of memories spun through the girl's mind. Stepping back to allow the woman to leave, she returned the light bow more as a nod and walked half blindly over to the window.
It would be nothing new... She told herself. As long as the path hasn't changed..... A shiver ran though her little figure, shaking her into better alertness, but not enough to rid her of the images. How long ago... She pulled her lip in and bit it a little harder then she had intended. Rubbing two fingers across it, she tried to laugh at herself. Though this felt wrong, it was -in her mind- already too late to turn back.
Having taken a moment to be sure Gavin saw her leave in her cloak -something he had learned over time to recognize as what he called her 'wanderer's cloak' for every time she put it on, it would not be all too soon that he would find her back, sleeping in her room.
It was only a little while left for daylight. A small, covered lantern in one hand, a wisp of a shadow slipped away under the cover of thick branches and behind large stones. Careful of every step, quiet feet moved in a halting swiftness a little way up the hill before pausing, breaths calm and eyes wide as they searched for the next sign.

Fair-Haven again made her way down the ivy covered wall with her tools in hand. Slipping off into the forrest with ease and sure footing she went at a soft jog. She wanted to be back before dawn and she wanted to get something accomplished long before then. As the darkness gre around her she pulled out the small map she had written on earlier and spoke a few soft words, a minute or so after she had spoken them the ink on the page began to glow a dull ghastly gray.
Looking over it shortly and finding her barrings she headed off in the direction of her distination.

Trees opened under the night sky; the lantern still covered, it only spread a little circle of light from its base. Though careful of every step, Nalla's eyes were locked on the stones before her.
A sharp chill ran through her at the touch of a new breeze. Something in her wanted to turn and run. It was this voice that screamed at her as she felt her feet move forward. As though under some spell, she watched as the opening of the cave came into view. There was nothing between her little light and the deep passage. It was not the dark that made her heart tremble though, but the feeling that the air here, even after so long, still felt warm.
Soundlessly the girl slipped from sight, what little light there was vanishing with her from the hillside.
